The Hobbit (1966), An Unreleased Animated Short by Gene Deitch By EDW Lynch on January 10, 2012 In 1966, animator Gene Deitch created this delightful 12 minute version of The Hobbit. The animation was only screened once as part of a scheme by producer William L. Snyder to profit off the film rights for the J. R. R. Tolkien story, a Deitch explains in his fascinating online book Roll the Credits. (via The Hobbit (1966), An Unreleased Animated Short by Gene Deitch)

Animated Sheet Music: “So What” by Miles Davis (by dancohen) | This is amazing. What a great way to teach people to connect written music with the recording as it is played, especially non-jazz musicians. It helps with the abstract concepts of “swing,” style, phrasing, and musical inflections. Great teaching tool!
